Excluding A Prize From Year End Reports
For third-party prizes for which the prize provider will be sending the 1099, you can Exclude from Annual Prize Total.
When adding a new prize or editing an existing prize, look for the Exclude from Annual Prize Total checkbox. By checking that box, the value of that prize will not count toward the winner's annual prize total for tax purposes.
An example might be a contest in which you are giving away a concert flyaway provided by a music label. If you know that they will be managing the 1099 for that winner, check the Exclude from Annual Prize Total checkbox.
All prizes with that box checked will be excluded from:
- Year End Prize Report
- Year End Prize Detail Report
- Year End Cash/Non Cash Report
And of course, the prize when claimed will not contribute to whether the winner surpasses the $600 taxable limit in the US and therefore must complete a W-9 form.
