Locking Users into a Daypart

The Lock to Daypart feature limits a user’s access to the time block they sign in for, helping ensure accurate prize distribution, content management, and scheduling.

How It Works

When a jock (on-air host) logs into the studio, the system automatically identifies the current time and locks them into that daypart.

  • Example 1: If Mike logs in at 6:00 PM, he will be locked into the evening daypart and will only see information for that time block.

  • Example 2: If he logs in at 10:00 AM, he will be locked into the midday daypart instead.

While locked, users can still scroll backward or forward to view past or upcoming segments within that daypart, but the system will lock them to that assigned daypart until they logout.

To enable the lock feature, go to Security > User Management, find the user, select ‘Restrict Studio to Current Daypart,’ and click Save.

Key Points to Remember

  1. Login Time Matters

    • The time you log in determines the daypart you’re locked into.

    • If you log in before your scheduled start time, you may be locked into the previous show’s daypart.

  2. Daypart Refreshing

    • If your shift changes (e.g., from morning to midday), you must refresh the page (best to click on the PromoSuite Next logo) or log out and log back in to access the new daypart.

  3. Why Use Lock to Daypart?

    • Keeps hosts focused on their own show’s schedule and prizing.

    • Reduces the risk of accidentally giving away prizes outside the correct time block.

  4. When NOT to Lock to Daypart

    • If hosts frequently log in early (e.g., a few minutes before their shift to prepare), locking may limit their access to the correct prizing until their scheduled time starts.

    • In these cases, it might be better to leave the feature turned off so they can view upcoming content immediately.

Best Practices

  • Coordinate with your team to determine whether locking is beneficial for your workflow.

  • Remind hosts to log in at their actual start time as possible if locking is enabled.
