If you are working with the vCreative Support team on an issue, you may be asked to open the 'dev tools' and send a screenshot. This document will explain how/where to do that.
What are 'dev tools'?
Dev tools - the abbreviation of Developer Tools - show detailed and coded information for software developers to help determine the origin or cause of a software issue. If you are asked to supply a screenshot of your dev tools it's so our development team can see what is happening in your browser in the software.
Dev Tools for PC
To open dev tools on a PC, you can simply hit the F12 key on your keyboard.
If your keyboard does not have an F12 key you can go to your browser's settings and click More Tools - Developer Tools.
The dev tools will then open, covering half your page view. Click the console tab and be sure the scroll bar is at the top of the view to show the most recent information.
At this point your view is ready for the screenshot to be taken. Depending on your hardware, you may use either a simple Print Screen key from your keyboard, or the Windows Logo Key + PrtScn button as a shortcut for print screen. If your device does not have the PrtScn button, you may use Fn + Windows logo key + Space Bar to take a screenshot, which can then be saved or shared.
Dev Tools for Mac
To open dev tools on a Mac, simply click the fn + F12 keys.
The dev tools will then open, covering half your page view. Click the console tab and be sure the scroll bar is at the top of the view to show the most recent information.
At this point your view is ready for the screenshot to be taken. On a Mac the screenshot is taken by clicking command + shift + 4. The screenshot can then be saved or shared.
